Geena Davis is Returning to The Small Screen in THE EXORCIST
In the ever-evolving television world, the need for a big star for a new television show seems like a must. It appears that the TV version of The Exorcist has found their big name — sort of.
According to Deadline, Academy Award-winning Geena Davis has signed on to star in Fox’s pilot of The Exorcist. The show will be written by Jeremy Slater, and it's being called a “modern reinvention of the book." Here is rundown of Davis' character:
Davis will play Angela Rance. Naturally beautiful, regal and proud but weighed down by stress, Angela does everything she can to stay positive and keep her faith even though her family is currently struggling. She can’t help but think, however, if perhaps her nightmares about a demon are a sign of what’s wrong.
In this version, we are getting a whole new set of priests, played by Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels. We are also getting a new family for them to deal with.
I am a fan of the original movie, so I am mildly interested to see what they are going to do with this show. I am sure that shows like American Horror Story have paved the way for a show like this and I am sure they are going to try to push the boundaries just like AHS.
Do you think we need another show in that genre? I am not sure that we do.
