GenCon: BAD BEETS Is The New Great Cheap Game For All Occasions

My first day into GenCon I had one task: find a great game for everyone. There were plenty of games vying for my interest right out of the gate, and while I really enjoyed most that I played, there was a problem. Sure, I loved playing Marvel: Legendary, but I know for a fact my wife hates it. Settlers of Catan is a great game, but not so much when you're looking for something low maintenance at the house party after a long night of partying. I wanted something new with a simple concept, fast gameplay, and of course, fun.

I got Stone Blade's Bad Beets.

There's a video above that will explain the rules of Bad Beets far better than I can, but to put it simply, it's fast, easy, and fun. I learned the rules in less than a turn, and by the end of two games, I saw how such a simple game can be as easy or as complex as you want it to be.

I think the beauty of it is the game's intensity highly varies depending on the audience playing. If you're playing with kids, it's going to be fairly straightforward with some silliness along the way. If you're playing with peers it's going to be a mind game where you play the odds and each other to secure a victory. You gotta have a poker face to win this game, because the games go quickly.

I'm not exaggerating when I say you can play a full game in 15 minutes max. With a setup of less than a minute, this is a game that can last multiple rounds or just until the next time you want to get drinks. There's no long sit down, stuck to the table feeling with this one, and I think that's a huge plus.

Finally, it's cheap as hell. You can buy this entire game for 15 bucks. If you buy it at GenCon right now, it's only 10! Out of all the fun games I've played so far at GenCon, this new one was far and away the most accessible and the one I see playing often with friends. Buy it here if you aren't at the con!
