Gene Wilder’s Life Story Coming to the Big Screen with Intrinsic Value’s Biopic GENE

The beloved Gene Wilder, known for The Producers, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, is getting the biopic treatment in Gene, a new film from Intrinsic Value Films.

The project, written by Jeremy Roth, will explore “the remarkable life and inner world of beloved actor Gene Wilder—known for The Producers, Blazing Saddles, and Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.” The story will trace the relationships that shaped his career and his lifelong search for happiness.

Intrinsic Value Films holds the exclusive life rights to Wilder’s story, and they are looking to give fans an authentic portrayal that honors his legacy. The Gene Wilder Estate is represented by David Shapira & Associates.

The project is part of Intrinsic Value’s current lineup headed to the American Film Market, signaling a big creative push from the studio as they expand their range of heartfelt, story-driven projects.

Aimee Schoof, co-founder of Intrinsic Value Films, said, “After years of producing films we deeply believed in, we’re excited to make Intrinsic Value a visible brand in its own right. We’re honoring the spirit that’s always guided us — collaboration, discovery, and great storytelling.”

Megan Freels Johnston, Head of Development, added, “Our focus is expanding, but our foundation remains the same. Every project begins with story, integrity, and the relationships that make filmmaking meaningful.”

It’s hard to imagine a more perfect subject than Gene Wilder, an actor who brought laughter, magic, and a touch of melancholy to everything he did. He is one of my favorite actors of all time and I hope this movie does him justice.

Gene promises to take audiences inside the heart of the man who gave the world some of its most unforgettable characters.
