George Clooney Set to Direct Coen Bros. Noir Drama SUBURBICON

Joel and Ethan Coen have written a new script called Suburbicon, and George Clooney is in talks to direct it. Suburbicon sounds like the name of a Decepticon from Transformers. It’s like a suburban town that transforms into a robot.

According to Deadline, this is a crime noir drama that is int he same vein of Coen’s first film, Blood Simple. We don’t have any information on the plot, but it will be set in the 1950s.

Clooney has had a long working relationship with the Coens that started with Intolerable Cruelty. From there he went on to star in O Brother, Where Art thou? and their upcoming film, Hail, Caesar! It makes complete sense that Clooney would one day end up directing a film from a script that they wrote.

Joel Silver is producing the movie, and we’ll fill you in on more details as they become available.
