George R.R. Martin May Be Forced to Finish THE WINDS OF WINTER Thanks to the Coronavirus
We’ve always been told to look at the bright side of life during hard times and to find the good things in the world. Well, thanks to the coronavirus George R.R. Martin may be forced to finish the long-awaited next chapter in his A Song of Ice and Fire series, which is titled The Winds of Winter.
Fans have been waiting for this sixth book in the series to be finished for years, and now that Martin is in lockdown, he has nothing to do but write.
The author took to his Not A Blog website, to reflect on how quickly the world has changed in the wake of the current events of the world. It’s in this post that Martin says that he’s spending most of his time in Westeros:
“For those of you who may be concerned for me personally… yes, I am aware that I am very much in the most vulnerable population, given my age and physical condition. But I feel fine at the moment, and we are taking all sensible precautions. I am off by myself in a remote isolated location, attended by one of my staff, and I’m not going in to town or seeing anyone. Truth be told, I am spending more time in Westeros than in the real world, writing every day. Things are pretty grim in the Seven Kingdoms… but maybe not as grim as they may become here.”
Now, we don’t know how much of the book Martin has completed or if he’s almost finished. He should be pretty far along as he’s been working on this book for over nine years! He’s got to be close to finishing it up… right!? Regardless, the fact that he’s in isolation writing the book means that he’s making progress!
