George R.R. Martin Says That He's Working on a Video Game

George R.R. Martin, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire book series, has confirmed that he's working on a new video game as a creative consultant. The game is being developed in Japan and unfortunately he doesn’t reveal any other details on the project other than that.

According to CB, Back in 2017 George R.R. Martin and From Software teamed up for a game and this might be the project that he’s talking about. From Software is the team behind games such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and most recently Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. This next project, which will be published by Bandai Namco, is said to be their biggest game ever.

The project is not going to be a Game of Thrones-related game, but is an expansive open-world adventure. According to the report, it will “feature players traveling to different kingdoms, conquering them.” That sounds like the kind of fantasy game that Martin might want to be a part of.

Personally, I just wish Martin would drop all of these side projects that he’s working on and focus 100% on finishing up his final two  A Song of Ice and Fire books The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring! I want to see how he envisioned the ending for that epic fantasy story.
