George Takei Joins Ridley Scott's THE TERROR Season 2 as an Actor and Consultant
Star Trek star George Takei has joined the cast of Ridley Scott’s AMC anthology drama The Terror. Not only will he be a series regular, but he will also serve as a consultant on the series.
The story that season two will tell is set during World War II, and it centers around “a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community and a young man’s journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible.”
In the series, he will play a character named Yamato-san, a former fishing captain and community elder.
For those of you who don’t know, Takei was actually imprisoned as a child in Japanese-American internment camps after the outbreak of World War II, which is why he has come on as a consultant.
His personal experience and knowledge of this ugly chapter in U.S. history led him to become a leading figure and activist for social justice. As a consultant, Takei will work closely with the executive producers to ensure the accuracy of historical events and storytelling.
Takei joins the previously cast Kiki Sukezane (Lost in Space), Miki Ishikawa (9-1-1), Shingo Usami (Unbroken), and Naoko Mori (Everest). “Sukezane will play Yuko, a mysterious woman from Chester Nakayama’s (Derek Mio) past; Ishikawa is Amy, a Nakayama family friend; and Usami and Mori play Henry and Asako Nakayama, Chester’s parents.”
The Terror was co-created and executive produced by Alexander Woo (True Blood) who also serves as showrunner on season two. Production starts next month in Vancouver and the next season will consist of 10-episodes.
I loved the first season of The Terror, and I’m looking forward to seeing what season two delivers.
