Gerard Butler is in Talks To Star in The Action-Thriller Comedy EMPIRE STATE

Gerard Butler is in talks to star in an upcoming comedic action-thriller titled Empire State, which is about the Empire State Building being attacked.

Butler will re-team with Den Of Thieves director Christian Gudegast on the project, which will involve two first responders who don’t get along who have to team up to save lives.

The script for the film was written by S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk) and Brian Tucker (Secret Invasion). The fact that Zahler is involved is the most exciting thing about the project. He’s a great writer!

In Empire State, “when the Empire State Building comes under attack by a military contractor hellbent on revenge, Navy SEAL turned NY firefighter Rhett (Butler) and NYPD Tactical officer Dani (yet to be cast) must put aside their relationship troubles as they work to rescue hostages and save the famous landmark.”

Butler and Gudegast are currently in post-production on Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. Butler also recently wrapped production on Universal Pictures’ live-action adaptation of the animation franchise How To Train Your Dragon.
