Gerard Butler’s GREENLAND 2: MIGRATION Trailer Teases Another Apocalyptic Thrill Ride
The first trailer for Greenland 2: Migration has dropped, and it takes us right back into the chaos of survival after a world-ending disaster, and if the footage is anything to go by, the stakes are even higher this time around.
The trailer kicks off with a rapid-fire recap of the original film, complete with the voiceover: "Space agencies are tracking the fragment. They're predicting an extinction-level event. The greatest chance of survival are the bunkers in Greenland."
For those who remember, the first movie followed Gerard Butler as engineer John Garrity, who fought tooth and nail to get his family, wife Allison (Morena Baccarin) and young son Nathan (Roger Dale Floyd), to safety before the comet struck.
This new chapter picks up five years later, with the Garritys still living underground. The trailer gives us a weary but determined John admitting, "Everybody says that this is the new normal. But now it isn't all that new, and it definitely ain't normal."
The claustrophobic reality of bunker life weighs heavy, especially on their now-older son Nathan, portrayed by Roman Griffin Davis (Jojo Rabbit). John tries to reassure him, saying, "I know it's tough being stuck down here, but it's too dangerous outside."
But danger and hope go hand in hand in apocalyptic thrillers. A team of scientists reveal that a massive crater in Southern France may have survived the comet’s destruction. "We believe it's a safe zone. There could be breathable air, drinkable water..." one character says.
The Garritys are faced with an impossible choice, stay in the suffocating safety of the bunker or risk everything for the chance of a better life above ground.
As you’ll see, going above ground probably wasn’t the best idea.
Ric Roman Waugh returns to direct, teaming up once again with Chris Sparling and co-writer Mitchell LaFortune on the screenplay. The supporting cast includes Amber Rose Revah, Sophie Thompson, Trond Fausa Aurvåg, and William Abadie, all of whom add new layers to the desperate race for survival.
With its mix of gritty family drama, high-stakes survival, and the promise of a dangerous journey through a fractured world, Greenland 2: Migration looks every bit as gripping as the original.
Greenland 2: Migration is set to hit US theaters on January 9, 2026.
