Get Caught Up on ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS with the New ANIMAL CROSSING Direct
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is possibly the most highly anticipated game release of 2020. Fans have had to endure a couple of release delays, and next month fans will finally be able to play! Recently, Nintendo held an Animal Crossing Direct which gave fans some more details about what to expect.
Thanks to Nook Inc., players will be able to go to a deserted island where they’ll be able to build up new homes and eventually a town. Fans will also be able to collect materials and create new DIY recipes. With enough practice with a specific recipe, you’ll be able to unlock special skills including custom designs and changing colors. Island builders will also get their own NookPhone with a camera and map to show off your new home. As you play the game, you’ll unlock additional apps. Of course, you don’t have to explore the island alone. Normally, up to eight players can share an island, but with Party Play, you can invite up to three more friends to visit and explore it with you. Another new feature is NookLink, which allows players to use the Nintendo Switch Online app to scan Custom Design QR Codes from Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer to then download to New Horizons.
The Getaway Package in New Horizons lets players fly to either the Northern or Southern Hemisphere. This will affect the time and season in-game, which is designed to match the real world. That means if you choose to reside in the North, spring will be starting when the game launches. Once on your island, you’ll be given an orientation of the island, be able to start building your home, and enjoy more customization options than any previous game in the franchise.
Animal Crossing fans will also be able to enjoy growing populations on their islands as more neighbors will visit and move in as you build and develop your island. They’ll also be able to use Animal Crossing amiibo and amiibo cards for fun bonuses. Free updates are also planned with the first one occurring on March 20 which is preparing players for Bunny Day in April. The update will also give fans new items in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Finally, to stay up to date, fans will want to check out the official Animal Crossing Twitter which is sometimes taken over by Tom Nook.
New Horizons will release on Nintendo Switch on March 20 with a special Animal Crossing-themed Switch launching on March 13.
