Get Ready To Celebrate Batman Day With Tons Of Special Screenings, Free Comics, And More
DC is gearing up to celebrate Batman Day around the world on September 17. Here is the breakdown of all the announced celebrations you can look forward to.
Participating comic book shops will be offering free comic books of Batman: Hush #1 Batman Day Special, the seminal work by artist Jim Lee and writer Jeph Loeb, and Batman’s Mystery Casebook Batman Day Special Edition written by Sholly Fisch and artist Christopher Uminga and is geared towards Middle Grade ages. There will also be a special edition of 2002’s Batman #608, the first chapter of Loeb and Lee’s 12 part mystery spanning Gotham City. This is to help you get excited for the upcoming Batman: Hush 20th Anniversary Edition hardcover coming out in October.
HBO Max has apparently decided they do care about Batman by announcing the cast of Batman Azteca: Choque De Imperios which will feature the first Mexican version of the Dark Knight set against the backdrop of Mexico. Announced voice actors are Horacio García Rojas (Diablero) as Yohualli (Batman/Bruce Wayne), Omar Chaparro (No Manches Frida films) as Yoka (The Joker) and Álvaro Morte as Hernán Cortés (Two-Face). On Batman Day kids and families can enjoy the first Batman preschool series Batwheels. The show features the famous vehicles you know and love as sentient super powered vehicles. Bam (the batmobile), Bibi (the Batgirl cycle), Redbird (Robin’s sports car), Batwing (the Batwing jet plane), and Buff (the Bat truck) will be teaming up in the special before the official launch of the series this fall. Voice cast includes Ethan Hawke (as Batman), Jacob Bertand (as Bam the Batmobile), Gina Rodriguez (as Catwoman) and Xolo Maridueña (as Snowy the Snowcrawler), among others.
HBO Max have also launched season one of their first scripted original podcast: Batman: The Audio Adventures. Featuring voice talents from Jeffrey Wright, Seth Meyers, Chris Parnell, Rosario Dawson, Bobby Moynihan, John Leguizamo, and more the podcast will bring stories from Gotham to life.
In the realm of games, the free to play platform fighter game MultiVersus will celebrate with an in game event. Players who complete 20 matches as the Caped Crusader from September 16-19 can get a Batman profile icon. Injustice 2 Mobile will be giving free daily in game gifts and a Batman Day logo profile picture for players from September 13-19 with a new Classic Batman Arena Invasion event starting on September 16.
In North America can enjoy a screening of Batman movies at Cinemark theaters. They will be playing Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993), Batman (1989), and Batman Returns (1992).
