GHOST OF TSUSHIMA: LEGENDS Anime Series Will Dive into Japanese Folklore and Mythology
I’ve got some exciting new for Ghost of Tsushima fans! Crunchyroll, in collaboration with Aniplex, Sony Music, and PlayStation Productions, has officially announced an anime adaptation of the critically acclaimed video game and its Legends cooperative multiplayer mode.
Fans of the 2020 hit game, developed by Sucker Punch Productions, can look forward to experiencing the story’s rich samurai aesthetics and mythological inspirations in an entirely new way.
The series is set to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027, and the anime will be a fusion of talent from some of the most renowned studios and creators in the anime world.
Aniplex, known for iconic series like Demon Slayer, Solo Leveling, and Sword Art Online, will produce the adaptation.
The project will be directed by Takanobu Mizuno, with story composition by Gen Urobuchi (NITRO PLUS), and animation by KAMIKAZE DOUGA. Sony Music will provide the soundtrack, promising an audio experience as epic as the visuals.

The anime will offer fans a bold, groundbreaking way to experience Ghost of Tsushima.”
The anime will not only draw from the game’s feudal Japanese setting but will also explore the supernatural elements of the Legends multiplayer mode, inspired by Japanese folklore. These fantastical narratives will be brought to life with cinematic storytelling and breathtaking animation.

Since its release, Ghost of Tsushima has sold over 13 million copies globally, as of August 2024, and won numerous awards, including the Player’s Voice Award at The Game Awards 2020.
Its Legends mode introduced a multiplayer experience inspired by Japanese mythology, offering players a chance to explore tales of ghostly warriors and mythical realms.
With this anime adaptation, fans can expect to revisit the world of Jin Sakai, the Ghost of Tsushima, and the epic tales of heroism and mythology that have captivated millions. More details about the cast and creative team will be unveiled in the coming months.
