GHOST RIDER Circling Rosamund Pike for Major Role Opposite Ryan Gosling in Marvel's MCU Movie

Marvel Studios is already looking beyond the end of the Multiverse Saga, and one of the most exciting projects on its upcoming slate is Ghost Rider.

After revealing that Ryan Gosling will bring the Spirit of Vengeance to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the studio appears to be filling out the cast with another high-profile name.

A new report claims Marvel is eyeing a former Bond girl and Oscar-nominated actress to star alongside Gosling, and if it comes together, this supernatural corner of the MCU could have a seriously impressive pairing.

According to insider Jeff Sneider, Rosamund Pike is being considered for the female lead opposite Gosling in Ghost Rider. While Marvel Studios hasn't confirmed the casting, Pike would be a fantastic addition to the project.

Pike first caught audiences' attention playing MI6 double agent Miranda Frost opposite Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day. Since then, she's built an incredible career with standout performances, including her Academy Award-nominated role as Amy Dunne in Gone Girl, along with memorable turns in I Care a Lot and the Jack Reacher franchise.

She's proven time and time again that she can command the screen, and she'd fit right into Marvel's darker supernatural stories.

Marvel officially unveiled Gosling as Ghost Rider during its San Diego Comic-Con presentation, confirming that the character is finally getting his own MCU movie with Shawn Levy directing.

The film has reportedly been given a blockbuster-sized budget, making it clear the studio has big plans for the Spirit of Vengeance as it heads into the next era of Marvel storytelling.

That next chapter begins after Avengers: Secret Wars, which is expected to bring the Multiversal Saga to a close while launching a soft reboot that reshapes the MCU.

Alongside Ghost Rider, Marvel has already lined up major projects including a new X-Men movie and Black Panther 3 as the foundation for what's next.

Sneider has previously reported that Gosling will portray Johnny Blaze, the original Ghost Rider created by Gary Friedrich and Mike Ploog, who first appeared in Marvel Spotlight #5 in 1972. Blaze was famously played by Nicolas Cage in Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Marvel, however, hasn't officially confirmed the character's identity, leaving plenty of room for speculation. Many fans are still hoping Gosling takes on the role of Danny Ketch instead, another iconic Ghost Rider who carried the mantle throughout much of the '90s.

Interestingly, Pike's rumored role could offer a clue about which Ghost Rider Marvel has chosen. If Gosling is indeed playing Johnny Blaze, Pike would likely be portraying Roxanne Simpson, Blaze's longtime love interest from the comics.

Roxanne knew Johnny before he made his fateful deal with Mephisto and remained one of the most important people in his life throughout many of his comic book adventures.

If Gosling were playing Danny Ketch instead, the obvious choice would be Stacy Dolan. Her relationship with Danny takes a much different path, beginning as a childhood friend before she eventually becomes a S.H.I.E.L.D. operative assigned to hunt him down.

Sneider's report specifically describes Pike as Johnny Blaze's love interest, making Roxanne Simpson the most likely role if the casting comes together.

Marvel is clearly treating Ghost Rider as one of the pillars of its next phase, and pairing Gosling with an actress like Pike would certainly raise anticipation even more.

We'll just have to wait and see if Pike ends up riding alongside the Spirit of Vengeance when Ghost Rider burns into theaters in 2028.
