GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN EMPIRE is Bringing Back Another Classic Character
Another beloved character from the original Ghostbusters movie is confirmed to return for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. That character is Slimer, who has pretty much appeared in every Ghostbusters project ever, so it’s not a surprise that the green snotty ghost will be back!
The announcement came from the official Ghostbusters social media account with a video showing off a theatrical standee for the upcoming sequel featuring Slimer. It came with the caption: "Slimer is back along with a new empire of spirits waiting to be discovered. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is coming soon exclusively to movie theaters.”
While it’s fun to see that Slimer will return, the one character that I really want to see return to the franchise is Rick Moranis!
In the story, New York City finds itself freezing over due to an ancient artifact that unleashes an evil force! In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife co-writer and executive producer Gil Kenan is directing the sequel, with Afterlife director and co-writer Jason Reitman serving as writer and executive producer. The movie also stars Patton Oswalt, Kumail Nanjiani, comedian James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind have joined the cast! They join returning cast members Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace. Also, the original Ghostbusters are returning with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson.
The film is scheduled to be released on March 29th, 2024.
