GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot Director Paul Feig is Directing a Universal Monster Movie Called DARK ARMY
Bridesmaids and Ghostbusters reboot director Paul Feig is set to write and direct a new Universal Pictures monster movie called Dark Army. The film is based on an original idea by the director and it’s said to “tie into the Monster universe” and that it “will include characters from Universal’s classic monster library and original characters created by Feig.”
There are no other details on the story, but I imagine with a title like Dark Army, the film will feature an army of monsters.
While I enjoyed Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor, I’m not a fan of the majority of Feig’s work and while the concept of this new film is interesting, I wish it was coming from a different filmmaker. I did not like what he did with that Ghostbusters reboot, and it’s not because of the all-female cast. It’s because the story, script, and direction were weak. There could have been a great Ghostbusters film with that cast.
I’m expecting Dark Army to be a mediocre Universal monster movie, but if it does actually end up exceeding my expectations… great! One thing is for sure, though, Universal doesn’t need another mediocre monster movie.
