Ghostface Will Live on in a New SCREAM Movie That Is in Development
It looks like the Scream franchise isn’t finished yet. Ghostface will live on in a new film that is being developed by Gary Barber’s Spyglass Media Group. This is the same production company that is in the process of developing a remake of Hellraiser.
After director Wes Craven passed away, I didn’t think we’d see another Scream movie. He created the horror franchise with writer Kevin Williamson, and he directed all four of the Scream movies.
All four of those films remained canon. There’s no word on if the next film will continue to be set in Craven’s universe or if it will be a remake. One thing Bloody-Disgusting points out, though, is that Williamson is not involved with writing the screenplay.
I love the Scream franchise, and while we don’t really need any more movies, if this is going to happen, I would much rather see it be a continuation of the story that Craven built. I have no interest in seeing the franchised remade or rebooted.
What are your thoughts on Scream getting a new movie? How would you like it to be handled?
