G.I. JOE 3 Nabs a New Screenwriter

Movie G.I. Joe 3 by Joey Paur

Paramount Pictures has hired a new screenwriter to pen the script for director D.J. Caruso’s G.I. Joe 3. The new writer’s name is Aaron Berg, and he is the writer behind a spec script called Section 6, which details the origins of the British intelligence agency MI6. Apparently that spec helped Berg become a hot commodity in Hollywood.

According to THR, the studio is hoping to turn the franchise around with the new talent they have on board to develop this film. Fans of the franchise haven’t been too happy with what the studio delivered so far with the first two movies.

I personally think that the film franchise is beyond saving with the way Paramount is handling it. I think the only way to turn things around would be to wait three or four years and then start fresh and reboot the franchise with talented filmmakers who know what they’re doing.

The fact that they’re still dragging out what they started just doesn’t make sense to me. As much as I’ve enjoyed some of the films that Caruso has made, I’m not very hopeful that this third G.I. Joe movie will be any good.
