Giancarlo Esposito Will be in THE MANDALORIAN, but Who Will he be Playing?
In a Television Critics Association panel for his upcoming Epix show Godfather of Harlem, Giancarlo Esposito was asked about his role in the Disney+ show The Mandalorian. Slashfilm was there and was able to get his response, and this is what he had to say:
In a way, you might call him an underworld character,” Esposito said. “You may also look at him as a savior, as someone who might bring back some order to the world after it’s all collapsed.
That gives exactly zero info on what side of the line he will be on. Good or bad? In the Star Wars universe, most people are riding in that gray area. Can you honestly say that Han Solo is 100% honorable? Is Boba Fett 100% bad? Nope, Fett is technically on no one’s side, he is here for the money. He would sell out Darth Vader if he was given the chance. Anyway, moving on.
There is also no guarantee that he won’t be complete motion capture for his part. He talks about working at “The Volume”, a place where a lot of motion capture work is done. With him working here, he may not be a humanoid.
We are working in The Volume. It’s a very specific atmosphere and quite fascinating to work in. I don’t want to spoil anything for you but that does suggest I might have a different persona. Who knows?”
Has he seen any footage of himself?
I have not, so I’ll be as surprised as you, man,
I am super stoked to watch this show. With actors like Esposito, Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Taika Waititi, Nick Nolte, Carl Weathers and more, this show should be amazing. I can’t wait for this show! November cannot get here fast enough. Are you excited for The Mandalorian? Let us know what you think.
