Giant Mutant Rabbits Terrorize in 1972 Trailer For NIGHT OF THE LEPUS

I’ve been on the hunt recently for ridiculous and obscure old genre films that I’ve never seen before and I thought it’d be fun to start sharing some of the trailers that I’ve come across.

This first trailer is for the 1971 sci-fi horror movie Night of the Lepus, which is about giant mutant rabbits that emerge and start murdering everyone. The movie was directed by William F. Claxton and it stars Rory Calhoun, Janet Leigh, DeForest Kelley, Stuart Whitman, and more.

Here’s the synopsis:

Arizona rancher Cole Hillman (Calhoun), dealing with massive rabbit overpopulation on his land, calls on a local college president, Elgin Clark (Kelley), to help him. In order to humanely resolve the matter, Elgin brings in researchers Roy (Whitman) and Gerry Bennett (Leigh), who inject the rabbits with chemicals. However, they fail to anticipate the consequences of their actions. A breed of giant mutant rabbits emerges and starts killing every human in sight.

You can currently watch this movie for free on the Plex streaming service.
