GIFTED Trailer: Captain America Raises a Smart Child For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Director
Here's the first trailer for Gifted, a new drama from The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb that stars Chris Evans, Jenny Slate, Octavia Spencer, Lindsay Duncan, and Mckenna Grace. This kind of small-scale drama looks like it's much more up Webb's alley than the movie-by-committee approach that seemed to weigh down his two Spider-Man films. I think he's really solid at depicting relationships on screen (see: 500 Days of Summer, and even the Andrew Garfield/Emma Stone scenes in his Spidey movies), so this one has potential to be a nice crowd-pleaser.
Gifted hits theaters on April 12, 2017.
Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising a child prodigy - his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) - in a coastal town in Florida. Frank's plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the seven-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank’s formidable mother Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan) whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary. Octavia Spencer plays Roberta, Frank and Mary’s landlady and best friend. Jenny Slate is Mary’s teacher, Bonnie, a young woman whose concern for her student develops into a connection with her uncle as well.
