Gillian Anderson Reveals Her Six Favorite Episodes of THE X-FILES
The X-Files is one of the best shows to ever grace our TV's and we all have our favorite episodes. Over the course of nine seasons, there were over 200 episodes that were made and all of them were good! Obviously, some stuck out more than others and out of all of those episodes, Gillian Anderson has chosen her favorite six. These six episodes were chosen by her and posted on Twitter as a part of a fan event inviting fans to binge watch the episodes and tweet along.
The episode's Anderson selected are as follows:
“Ice” – Season 1, Episode 8
Mulder and Scully are sent to investigate when a team of geophysicists stationed at a remote Alaskan outpost are killed by a parasitic alien life form.
“Humbug” – Season 2, Episode 20
The agents search for a killer in a Florida town inhabited by sideshow performers.
“Jose Chung’s from Outer Space” – Season 3, Episode 20
Scully recounts the investigation of an alleged UFO encounter for the famous quirky author Jose Chung's latest novel. The case gives a whole new meaning to the term Rashomon effect.
“The Post-Modern Prometheus” – Season 5, Episode 5
In this surreal, comical take on Frankenstein, Mulder and Scully arrive in a small rural town to investigate claims of a monster obsessed with Cher that's sedating and impregnating the local women.
“Bad Blood” – Season 5, Episode 12
Scully and Mulder each recount their version of events that led Mulder to drive a stake through the heart of a Texas teenager he claims was a vampire.
“Triangle” – Season 6, Episode 3
Mulder boards the wreck of a legendary missing WWII ship that suddenly appeared in the Bermuda Triangle. The ship turns out to be a time portal. Now Scully must use all of her wits to try and get the unwilling FBI to help her save him.
If you're a fan of The X-Files, I'm sure many of these if not all of them would be on your favorites list. These are all fantastic episodes that are fun to rewatch. Two of these episodes were written by Darin Morgan, and he is back for Season 11 to write more, so that's great! He wrote "Humbug" and "Jose Chung's From Outer Space".
I really enjoy the comedic tone that he interjects into his episodes. When talking about his work, David Duchovny told TV Line:
"What I personally love in [Darin’s episodes] is that he hates Mulder. He’s always trying to make Mulder an imbecile and the butt of every joke.
"It’s very difficult to figure out how to play Mulder in those episodes because he’s such an ass, and I feel pressure to find that place where I can service how funny it is and still keep Mulder Mulder," the actor confessed. "It’s a bit of a pressure cooker for me because I love Darin and I want his episodes to have integrity. I don’t want it to just be this goofy thing like, ‘Oh, we’re not The X-Files this week. We’re winking. It’s not really Mulder.’ I want it to be more than that."
I'm looking forward to seeing what he brings to Season 11! Anyway, what are some of your favorite X-Files episodes?
The X-Files returns on Wednesday, January 3rd at 8:00 PM ET on Fox.
