Gina Carano Joins Jean-Claude Van Damme in KICKBOXER Remake
A week ago we learned that Jean-Claude Van Damme had been cast in the upcoming Kickboxer remake, in which he will play an updated version of the original film’s Master Chow. It's now being reported that former MMA fighter Gina Carano has joined the martial arts production.
The film has an all-star cast of badasses that Carano will be joining, such as Dave Bautista from Guardians of the Galaxy, stunt performer-turned-actor Alain Moussi from X-Men: Days of Future Past, and UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, who played Batroc in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Carano is a great addition to the cast. It's always fun to see her in action.
John Stockwell is directing the movie, and the story follows Kurt Sloane (Moussi), "a talented martial artist who travels to Thailand, where he must learn the secrets of the kickboxer to avenge his brother's death at the hands of Tong Po (Bautista)." According to the report, Carano will play a fight promoter, so who knows how much actual fighting she'll do. Hopefully she gets at least one awesome action sequence.
The actress was last seen in 2013's Fast and Furious 6, and she just wrapped a film called Bus 657 with Robert De Niro and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
