Gina Carano Scores Settlement with Disney Over THE MANDALORIAN Firing and Future Job Offers Are on The Table

The long-running leagal battle between Gina Carano and Disney over her 2021 firing from The Mandalorian has officially come to an end, and it looks like the former MMA fighter is walking away with a win.

Ahead of a trial set for September, Carano and Disney filed a joint request in federal court to dismiss her year-and-a-half-old lawsuit, a case famously backed by Elon Musk. The filing read:

“Pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 41(a)(1)(A)(ii), Plaintiff Gina Carano, on the one hand, and Defendants The Walt Disney Company, Lucasfilm Ltd. LLC, and Huckleberry Industries (US) Inc., on the other, by and through their undersigned counsel, hereby stipulate that this action and all claims, including all defenses asserted therein, be dismissed with prejudice.”

While a judge still needs to sign off, the legal fight is essentially over, and Carano appears to be the one holding the high ground.

Details of the settlement remain under wraps. There’s no official word on whether Carano will return to her role as Rebel shock trooper Cara Dune, but sources close to her say she is “happy with how things were dealt with.”

Disney’s own statement took a surprisingly warm tone, saying:

“The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies.

“Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect.

“With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”

That’s a far cry from the rhetoric back in 2021 when Disney justified her firing by stating her decision “to publicly trivialize the Holocaust by comparing criticism of political conservatives to the annihilation of millions of Jewish people… was the final straw.”

Now, with the legal battle behind them, it seems Carano and Disney are ready to work together again, a twist few fans saw coming. Whether this means a return to The Mandalorian or a whole new project in the galaxy far, far away is still a mystery, but one thing’s for sure… this chapter of the saga has come to close.
