Glen Powell Set to Star in Sci-Fi Film TESSERACT Written and Directed by Sam Esmail

Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, The Running Man) is ironing out negotiations on his starring role in a new sci-fi film written and directed by Sam Esmail. Producers include UA’s Stuber and Nick Nesbitt, Esmail Corp’s Esmail and Chad Hamilton. Barnstorm’s Glen Powell and Dan Cohen are negotiating to produce.

The project is being made by Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists’ Scott Stuber, marking another high-profile package landed by Stuber since setting his new deal at Amazon; he recently landed the coveted Heat 2 from Michael Mann.

Like with anything related to Esmail, plot details are being kept under wraps other then it being an original sci-fi feature.

Powell is about to shoot the second season of his Golden Globe nominated comedy series Chad Powers, and will likely follow that up with the untitled Judd Apatow comedy he’s signed onto at Universal in the spring. He will be seen next in the A24 pic How To Make a Killing opposite Margaret Qualley as well as the new project from J.J. Abrams.
