Go Behind the Scenes of the Music for Netflix's COWBOY BEBOP
The live action Cowboy Bebop has been one of the most highly anticipated live action remakes of an anime. Netflix Geeked shared a behind the scenes with composer Yoko Kanno and learn more about her process for bringing the soundtrack to life. Just like how it’s not going to be a shot for shot remake of the anime, the music is not going to be an exact replica.
Kanno talks about how she was inspired by and used some of the original music, but wanted to help bring something new to the table. She composed the music based on the scene and what the characters are going through at the moment rather than creating a specific theme for each and every character. Kanno says she hopes “it becomes a soundtrack that says, “Well, life is what it is. Oh, well.”’
It sounds like Kanno had some really interesting ideas going into this project, and with the music being jazz I think it opens up a lot of opportunity for change and creativity. You can check out the full video here.
