Godzilla Fest 2025 to Unleash “Burning Millennium Godzilla”
Godzilla is about to roar back into the spotlight once again, and this time, Japan is bringing the heat. While Legendary’s MonsterVerse keeps the King of the Monsters alive in the West, Toho continues to celebrate the kaiju’s legacy in its homeland.
The next big step in that celebration will arrive at this year’s Godzilla Fest 2025, where fans will meet a brand-new version of the legendary beast called “Burning Millennium Godzilla.”
The annual event, held on November 3rd in Tokyo, will debut a fresh short film that introduces this fiery new take on the kaiju icon.
According to Godzilla Fest’s official description, “The all-new special effects film ‘Fes Godzilla’ series has become a regular feature at Godzilla Fest. This series, which concluded with great acclaim at last year’s ‘Godzilla Fest 2024,’ is now being relaunched with a new look!
“Director Nakagawa Kazuhiro will continue to direct this latest film, and actor Suzuki Fuku, known for his love of special effects films, has been confirmed to appear!”
This new version of Godzilla, complete with a blazing chest designed to enhance its power, marks an exciting evolution for the creature. Even though this is a short film, Toho isn’t treating it like a small project.
The studio is putting serious passion and production value into this year’s entry, and it sounds like the creative team is ready to deliver something epic for longtime fans.
Fuku Suzuki, who will star in the short, shared his enthusiasm for joining the Godzilla legacy, saying, “After seeing Godzilla Minus One at the cinema, I developed a strong desire to one day appear in a Godzilla film.
“I was happy to be involved with Godzilla through this short film and to see the Godzilla suit and miniature filming set! As a special effects fan, I was also excited about this new challenge in special effects! I was able to see the footage shot on set, and was very excited by its power. I hope that ‘Godzilla Fest 2025’ will be the best time for everyone!”
The “Fes Godzilla” short films have become a fan-favorite part of Godzilla Fest’s annual celebrations, offering unique and creative spins on the monster without being bound to one specific timeline.
Like Shin Godzilla, Godzilla Minus One, and Legendary’s MonsterVerse version, this new “Burning Millennium Godzilla” will likely exist in its own continuity, as a fresh chapter in the kaiju’s ever-expanding mythology.
While fans in North America wait for Godzilla x Kong: Supernova to stomp into theaters in 2027, Godzilla Fest 2025 is making sure the King of the Monsters stays active and evolving.
If the first look is any indication, “Burning Millennium Godzilla” could be one of the most visually striking versions yet of the creature, and proof that Toho still knows how to make the lizard king feel truly larger than life.
