GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS Begins Production; Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah Confirmed!

The next chapter in Warner Brothers' Pictures and Legendary Pictures' Monsterverse began production today. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will pit the mighty Godzilla with iconic rivals Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. The story follows the continued efforts of the Monarch agency as its members face off against a massive line-up of god-sized monsters.

When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

King of the Monsters is Directed by Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus), and stars Oscar nominees Vera Farmiga, and Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins, both reprising their Godzilla roles.

Newcomers to the franchise include Kyle Chandler (The Wolf of Wall Street, Manchester by the Sea), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) in her feature film debut, Bradley Whitford (Get Out), Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Aisha Hinds (Star Trek Into Darkness), and Golden Globe nominee Zhang Ziyi (Memoirs of a Geisha, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

Filming is taking place in Atlanta, Georgia. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is currently scheduled for release in March 2019, and will be distributed in 3D and in select IMAX theaters.
