GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS Director Mike Dougherty Shares Idea for an AVENGERS Crossover

While Legendary Pictures is building a monster universe that is building up to Godzilla battling King Kong, Godzilla: King of the Monster director Mike Dougherty would love to include Marvel’s The Avengers in that universe!

The filmmaker recently shared his idea for the Godzilla and Avengers crossover, and it would be based on an old 1970s comic called Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and this specific issue included the Avengers in the story.

Dougherty included the note, “This movie would make the world a better place,” and I couldn’t agree more!

As you can see, the cover art for the vintage comic features Godzilla wreaking havoc on New York City and Thor, Iron Man, Vision, Yellowjacket, and The Wasp watching in terror as they figure out what to do. In this case, Vision says, “Stay back, Avengers. Only Yellowjacket and the Wasp can stop Godzilla!”

Here’s what the story would have entailed:

Godzilla was back to present day Earth at full size, and he immediately went on a rampage through New York City. With the Godzilla Squad and the Fantastic Four not enough to stop the monster's rampage, the Human Torch enlists the aid of the Avengers.

With the added might of Earth's mightiest heroes they manage to get Godzilla on the defensive, fighting Godzilla into New York Harbor. However, this is far from defeating him, as he rises from the water more furious than ever before.

While this will likely never happen, would you like to see a Godzilla and Avengers crossover film?
