GODZILLA MINUS ZERO Unleashes Epic New IMAX Poster and Early Access Release

Godzilla is getting a three-day head start on destroying the box office. Toho’s Godzilla Minus Zero officially hits theaters across North America on November 6, 2026, but fans who want to see the King of the Monsters as big and loud as possible can catch it early.

A special Godzilla Day Early Access event will bring the movie exclusively to IMAX theaters on November 3. Tickets for Godzilla Minus Zero are on sale now, and IMAX has also unleashed an epic new poster for the film.

This is a particularly cool release for the franchise because Godzilla Minus Zero is the first Japanese production ever Filmed For IMAX. The movie was shot entirely in Japan using high-definition digital cameras certified by IMAX, with the imagery and sound optimized specifically for the format.

If there was ever a movie made to take advantage of a gigantic IMAX screen and a theater-rattling sound system, a new Godzilla movie certainly fits the bill.

Godzilla Minus Zero is set in 1949, two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One, with Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe returning to reprise their roles.

Takashi Yamazaki is also back as director, writer, and VFX artist after his Oscar-winning work on the previous film. This time, he’s picking the story up as Japan continues trying to recover from the devastation left behind by war and Godzilla.

The official synopsis reads: “War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus. Two years have passed since then, and the country has faced agonizing struggles to achieve recovery and finally reclaim its daily life. Just as humanity managed to cling to a hard-won peace, a new threat strikes, crushing hope in an instant. There is no third time. Everything ends here.”

That certainly sounds like Yamazaki is planning to put these characters through hell again. Godzilla Minus One delivered an incredible mix of massive monster destruction and a genuinely compelling human story, so expectations are understandably high for its sequel.

The jump to a full Filmed For IMAX production should make Godzilla’s return even more spectacular on the biggest screen possible.

Godzilla Minus Zero opens nationwide in North American theaters through GKIDS on November 6, 2026, with the IMAX Early Access event taking place November 3 for Godzilla Day.

Check out the new IMAX poster and prepare for Godzilla’s return.
