GODZILLA: TOKYO SOS to Get U.S. Theatrical Debut to Celebrate 20th Anniversary

Godzilla: Tokyo SOS will make its U.S. theatrical debut this year to celebrate its 20th anniversary. This is made possible by Toho International partnering with Fathom Events for a one-day-only event. On March 22, the film will be screened in over 600 theaters across the United States with subtitles and bonus content. That bonus content includes a special showing of Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex. It sounds like a really fun time. Tickets are now available through Fathom Events and participating box offices.

In Godzilla: Tokyo SOS, Mothra's twin fairies appear with a warning to Japan that Kiryu (aka Mechagodzilla) must be put to rest at the bottom of the ocean or face the wrath of Mothra. When Godzilla returns once again, will humanity heed the warning or will Kiryu be forced to fight against two monsters?

In addition, Toho International has announced that there will be a bunch of merchandise released for the anniversary of Godzilla: Tokyo SOS. This includes a Type3 Kiryu figure from Tamashii Nations now available for pre-order from Amazon, new figures from Super7, and more.

Talking about the anniversary, Kristin Parcell of Toho International said:

It’s been 20 years since Godzilla: Tokyo SOS debuted and we’re looking forward to celebrating this seminal moment for the franchise in partnership with Fathom Events. Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy this iconic film on the big screen for the first time in the U.S.. Rounding out the experience, viewers will also have the opportunity to indulge their fandom beyond the screen with our robust Godzilla: Tokyo SOS merchandise line-up.
