Gollum From THE LORD OF THE RINGS Sings a Cover of Sinead O’Connor‘s "Nothing Compare 2 U"

Here’s a silly yet enjoyable video that features Gollum from The Lord of the Rings performing a cover of Sinead O’Connor‘s version of “Nothing Compares 2 U”, which was originally written by Prince.

The video was made using deepfake tech and it was created by Chris Ume of South Park's 'Deep Voodoo' VFX studio. Ian Walters, a 6th-grade history and science teacher in Oakland, California who obviously has some free time on his hands, was asked to be the model for the deepfake. The video mimics the original Sinead O’Connor music video for the song and the lyrics have been changed to fit Gollum’s story. It’s Walters’ voice in the video and he also wrote the lyrics:

Nothing can stop these tears from falling
Tell me precious, where did we go wrong
We can put our hands around the neck of every Hobbit we see
But they only remind us of you
And we got tortured by the dark lord
But guess what we told him
Guess what we told him precious
We screamed “SHIRE” and “Baggins”
Then we cried and cursed and gurgled
Like we do, but he’s a fool
Because nothing compares, nothing compares
To you my precious.
