Goofy Fun New Trailer For Netflix's Live-Action ONE PIECE Series
Netflix recently released a full trailer for its live-action adaptation of the hit manga series One Piece. Some fans don’t seem too excited about the series, but I think it looks like it will be filled with some goofy fun stuff. Adapting anime into live-action is hard and most projects that have attempted it don’t really work. I have no idea if One Piece will work, but I hope it ends up being surprisingly good. Maybe the creative team can actually pull it off!
The One Piece anime is a blast and I love the characters. I hope that this series will at least be able to capture the spirit of that.
One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his pirate crew as they explore a fantastical world of endless oceans and exotic islands in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King.
The other main characters include Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero Gibson), and Sanji (Taz Skylar).
Steven Maeda is a co-writer, showrunner, and executive producer on the series along with Matt Owens, who is also co-writing and executive producing. The series also stars Morgan Davies (The Evil Dead) as Koby, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (The Sex Lives of College Girls) as Alvida, Aidan Scott (Action Point) as Helmeppo, Jeff Ward (Hacks) as Buggy, McKinley Belcher III (Ozark) as Arlong, and Vincent Regan (Troy) as Garp.
The 10-episode series comes from Tomorrow Studios and One Piece publisher Shueisha. Open Piece will be released on August 31st! Excited?!
