Google Play Creates a Casual Guide to Great STAR WARS Moments for STAR WARS Day

We are coming up on May 4, aka Star Wars Day, and fans are always looking for ways to celebrate. Many fans like to watch their favorite movies and episodes in the franchise, read their favorite books, and play their favorite games. I’ll probably do a little of each myself. If you’re wanting some suggestions, Google Play has put together the following guide to highlight some of the big moments in Star Wars history. I do want to highlight that most of the items are non-canonical, but that doesn’t make them any less fun or good.

  • The Mandalorian and Jedi Wars (~4,000 Years Before the Clone Wars)

    • Anakin Skywalker isn't the only Jedi to turn to the dark side and plunge the galaxy into turmoil. Roughly 4,000 years before the events of the Clone Wars and rise of the Empire, two Jedi Knights, Revan and Malak, unleashed a Sith armada on the Republic after turning to the dark side. Knights of the Old Republic is an RPG that drops you in the middle of The Mandalorian and Jedi Wars and allows players to make choices that align with the light or dark side, which ultimately influence the outcome of the game and a war that reshaped the galaxy. Or, check out the Old Republic Series, which follows Revan and other prominent Sith through the events and aftermath of the war.

  • Dawn of the Rule of Two (~1,000 Years Before the Clone Wars)

    • Have you wondered why there are only ever two Sith - one master and one apprentice? If so, the Darth Bane Trilogy is for you. In the past, the Sith could match the Jedi in numbers and clashed in open war throughout the galaxy. However, internal conflict, power struggles and backstabbing limited their potential, so one Sith chose to make a change. His name is Darth Bane and his “Rule of Two” put the Sith on a path that saw them take over the galaxy.

  • High Republic (~300 Years Before the Clone Wars)

    • Did you know there was a moment of peace in the Star Wars galaxy? Seems crazy, but for hundreds of years there was peace and prosperity. The Galactic Republic was at its height, and it was a golden age for the Jedi who were spread across the galaxy aiding in exploration and expansion.

  • Start of the Clone Wars

    • You may have seen the movie and the animated TV show, but fans of the Clone Wars have even more to explore in the three volume Clone Wars series spanning more than 80 comics. Starting with the start of the Clone Wars to the fall of The Republic, the comics give you more stories to explore for fans interested in filling in the blanks between the movie and animated TV show.

  • Fall of the Empire (-20 Years After the Clone Wars)
