GOSSIP GIRL Series Reboot Ordered at HBO Max
The super popular CW show Gossip Girl is making a comeback on the upcoming streaming service HBO Max. The series launched the careers of Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, and Ed Westwick. The series was about rich teens who lived on New York’s Upper East Side, who start getting followed by a ruthless blogger who tracks their every move. The original series, as well as this pickup, is based upon the book by Cecily von Ziegesar.
Deadline reports the following description for the show:
Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years.
This is a totally smart reboot. They will have a lot of places to go with that premise. I never watched the series, but I would catch up and give it a try. Add it to the list! Are you a fan who’s excited to see it come back?
