GOTHAM Recasts Poison Ivy with a Much Older Actress
Gotham has decided to move in a different direction with Poison Ivy. They have recast the character with an actress who will play an older version of the character. The character was originally played by 14-year-old Clare Foley, who was wonderful in the role. She has been replaced by 28-year-old Maggie Geha, who will play a 19-year-old version of the character.
You might be saying to yourself, “What the hell!? How is that going to work!?” She would obviously had to undergo some kind of drastic growth and age spurt. Well, we have a description of the character thanks to EW, that explains the transformation from young teen to adult:
Following an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill, Ivy Pepper finds herself reborn, and one step closer to the DC villain she is destined to become: Poison Ivy. Now a 19-year-old woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms, she sets her sights on Bruce Wayne.
So a monster from Indian Hill will transform her? That seems interesting but could also prove to be problematic. This is the first thing that I’ve learned about the show that I can’t say I’m fully on board list. But who knows, maybe it will turn out to be something cool.
Indian Hill is a toxic waste dump built on an Indian burial ground, and I’m curious to see what kind of monster ends up changing her. I’d love it if Swamp Thing popped up! One thing is for sure, and that is that Gotham is about to get even crazier.
