GRAVITY Writer Jonas Cuarón to Direct Untitled Chupacabra Movie at Netflix

Jonas Cuarón, co-writer of the space drama Gravity, which he wrote alongside his father Alfonso, who directed the movie, is taking on the role of director on an upcoming untitled film about the legendary folklore creature, the chupacabra.

He will also be writing an updated script, based on the original script by Marcus Rinehart, Sean Kennedy Moore, and Joe Barnathan. Harry Potter and Night at the Museum producer Chris Columbus is on board to produce the movie.

Deadline provides the following synopsis:

The film follows a teenager, who while visiting his family in Mexico, gains an unlikely companion when he discovers a young chupacabra hiding in his grandpa’s shed. In order to save the mythical creature, Alex and his cousins must embark on the adventure of a lifetime.

This sounds like a totally original and cool story. Those Cuaróns are a talented bunch, so I am interested in checking this movie out for sure. Does it sound like a story you’ll be into?
