Great First Trailer for GENIUS: ARETHA Starring Cynthia Eviro as the Queen of Soul
National Geographic has released a new trailer for the third season of their anthology series, Genius, which will chronicle the life and artistry of musical genius Aretha Franklin. She will be played by Oscar-nominated actress Cynthia Eviro, known for her roles in Harriet, Bad Times at the El Royale, and The Outsider. The actress and singer will play the role of Franklin in what is the first authorized scripted limited series on the life of the Queen of Soul.
Erivo is joined by Courtney B. Vance, Malcolm Barrett, Patrice Covington, Kimberly Hébert Gregory, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Shaian Jordan, Marque Richardson, Pauletta Washington, Steven Norfleet and Omar J. Dorsey. T.I., Antonique Smith and Tina Fears are recurring.
The first two seasons of the series followed Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso, and Season 4 will tell about the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Genius: Aretha will kick off with two episodes on Sunday, March 21st at 9pm before double-stacking the rest of the episodes across the next three nights. All eight episodes will then be available to stream on Hulu on Thursday, March 25 – the Queen of Soul’s birthday. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
