Great New Trailer for the Russo Bros. Sci-Fi Adventure Film THE ELECTRIC STATE
Netflix has released a great new trailer for Joe and Anthony Russo’s upcoming sci-fi adventure film The Electric State. This trailer seems to lean into the emotion of the story of a young girl bonding with a robot as she looks for her brother.
I’m excited about this movie! I love the visuals that I’m seeing from it, and it looks like it will take audiences on an epic journey. It’s a shame we won’t be able to enjoy it on the big screen.
The movie comes with a stacked cast of actors that is led by Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All At Once).
The film is based on an adaptation of the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag and is set in an alternate retro-futuristic version of 1997.
With humans isolated in their VR helmets and a continuing battle against a strange breed of monstruous drones in the wake of a technological meltdown, an orphaned teenager named Michelle (Brown) traverses the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother.
Quan plays Dr. Amherst, a key figure in helping Michelle locate her brother, with Pratt playing Keats, a war veteran-turned-long-haul-trucker.
The Russos reteamed with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely on the project, who also worked on Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
The cast also includes Stanley Tucci as tech guru Ethan Skate; Woody Norman as Michelle's brother, Martin Klebba; and Giancarlo Esposito as robot bounty hunter Colonel Bradbury; with Jason Alexander, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Anthony Mackie, Billy Bob Thornton, Alan Tudyk, and Woody Harrelson lending their voices to various robots. Harrelson provides the voice for a giant robot version of the beloved American mascot Mr. Peanut.
The Electric State will hit Netflix in March 2025.
