Great Trailer for Demi Lovato's Debut Hulu Documentary CHILD STAR
Hulu has released a great trailer for the documentary Child Star, from child actor and singer Demi Lovato, who co-directed the doc with Nicola Marsh (Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story, The 12th Victim, Omnivore).
The film features interviews with many popular child actors like Drew Barrymore, Kenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven-Symoné, JoJo Siwa, and Alyson Stoner.
The synopsis reads: “The documentary film Child Star explores the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world's most well-known former child stars.
“Through celebrity interviews, vérité scenes, and archival footage, this film deconstructs the stages of earlier stardom and looks at the entertainment system over the last century.
“Co-director / actress Demi Lovato sits down with iconic former child stars such as Drew Barrymore, Kenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven-Symoné, JoJo Siwa, Alyson Stoner, and more to reflect on their personal experiences working in the entertainment industry in never-before-heard stories.
“Together, they take a look at the next generation of child actors and how to move forward in an ever-changing landscape.”
This looks very interesting and well-done. We’ve seen similar stories and cautionary tales in the documentaries Showbiz Kids from filmmaker and teen star Alex Winter on HBO, Hulu’s Kid 90 which was directed by child actor Soleil Moon Frye, and most recently, HBO’s Quiet On Set, which really delved into some dark subject matter.
I like that each of these docs involve different actors that I have enjoyed watching over the years, and that they are getting to speak up and tell their stories.
