GREEN LANTERN CORPS May End Up Being Helmed By RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES Director Rupert Wyatt
It looks like Warner Bros. may be honing in on a director for their DCEU film Green Lantern Corps. According to The Hashtag Show, who has been pretty reliable with a lot of their scoops, the studio is looking to hire Rupert Wyatt (Rise of The Planet of The Apes) to direct it.
If this turns out to be true, I think he'd make a decent director. I loved what he did with Rise of the Planet of the Apes. He's definitely a better choice than David Goyer, who was previously rumored to direct. Wyatt was supposed to direct Gambit for 20th Century Fox before he dropped out due to scheduling conflicts, but it looks like he still might get his shot at another superhero movie.
DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns previously confirmed that Hal Jordan and the entire Green Lantern Corps will be joining the Justice League films, saying:
“We’ve been to the bottom of the oceans, we’ve been to ancient Greece mythology, we’ve been to the past and future Flash, into the digital world with Cyborg, we still got to go to space. So the Green Lanterns and the Green Lantern Corps will be coming to join the Justice League universe.”
I'm curious to see how they handle Green Lantern this time around. It can't be any worse than what they did with the previously made Ryan Reynolds film! What do you all think about the possibility of Wyatt directing the film? He's currently finishing up his sci-fi film Captive State.
