Green Ronin Shares Some Details About FANTASY AGE 2E Ancestries and Classes

Some time this month, Green Ronin will be releasing the second edition of Fantasy AGE. This is very exciting in my opinion for tabletop RPG fans. I love FAGE and can’t wait for this update. As the hype builds for the new edition, Malcolm Sheppard has been sharing some details about different parts of the book. At the end of January, he shared some information about ancestries (their term for race/species) and more recently, classes were the topic of discussion.

For ancestries, the list was provided of nine ancestries that will be available and all of them have been reexamined and revised for the new edition of FAGE. There will also be rules and guidelines for playing mixed-ancestry characters. Sheppard even shared that a new addition to the game are Ancestry Talents to help you deepen your connection to your ancestry if you so choose. The example we’re given is Dwarven Secrets which starts by letting you know your direction when inside and underground, but eventually gets bonus stunt points with Axes and more resistance to spells. Here’s the list of ancestries available.

  • Draak

  • Dwarf

  • Elf

  • Gnome

  • Goblin

  • Halfling

  • Human

  • Orc

  • Wildfolk

As for classes, we already knew that we are only getting four options: Envoy, Mage, Rogue, and Warrior. The Envoy is a new social class and a preview was provided. I recommend you go check it out because it looks like fun. Each class has undergone some changes based on playtesting feedback and developer experience. In addition, there are now class stunts which you’ll gain as you level up and are designed to be a bit stronger than the general stunts everyone can access. Each class was also provided with features to help with damage scaling and you can pick your specialization at level one instead of waiting until level four. The specializations have been revised as well and brand new ones also await fans.

An envoy is a master of social situations, building or exploiting relationships and group interactions. The classic envoy is an agent of a ruling court or council who both carries out the orders of their superiors and works to increase their own influence and rank. You can also use the envoy to represent anyone who is primarily concerned with deals, diplomacy, leading, or deceiving others, from a noble captain of the guard to a scoundrel with a heart of gold or even a con artist.

These updates are very exciting. It appears that a new post is going live about once a week, so next week we can look forward to learning about level improvements. What has you the most excited to play FAGE 2E?
