Gripping Teaser Trailer for the Thriller ANTEBELLUM Starring Janelle Monae
Singer and actress Janelle Monae, known for her roles in Hidden Figures and Welcome to Marwen, is in a new thriller entitled Antebellum. She is joined in the cast by Kiersey Clemons (Lady and the Tramp), Gabourey Sidibe (Precious, American Horror Story), Jena Malone (Saved!, The Hunger Games), Eric Lange (Narcos, Unbelievable), Jack Huston (American Hustle, Fargo), Tongayi Chirisa (The Jim Gaffigan Show, iZombie), Marque Richardson (True Blood, Dear White People), Robert Aramayo (Game of Thrones), and Lily Cowles (Roswell, New Mexico).
Here’s the synopsis:
“Successful author Veronica Henley (Janelle Monáe) finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late.”
That doesn’t give us much information, and neither does the trailer, but it looks like a total trip. In the trailer, we hear a 911 operator attempting to answer a call, and we see Monae’s character seeing scenes of what looks like slaves on a plantation. There is also a creepy young girl who looks like she’s auditioning to be in The Shining and plenty of tension building around the confusion.
I don’t like horror, and even many thrillers freak me out, especially ones with creepy kids who appear in unexpected places, but this movie looks intriguing. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think.
