Gripping Trailer for Decades Long Coming of Age True Crime-Style Documentary SAM NOW

A gripping trailer has been released for a truly original and fascinating documentary titled Sam Now. The feature follows two brothers, one behind the camera, Reed, who follows his half-brother Sam from childhood to adulthood as he comes of age and goes on a quest to find his mother, who disappeared from his life when he was a child.

Filmmaker Reed Harkness has premiered the doc at several film festivals, and is getting ready to launch in theatres as well as on nationwide TV.

The synopsis reads:

“Sam Harkness and his Seattle family are shocked and heartbroken when his mother suddenly disappears. Tracking cryptic clues of her whereabouts years later, Sam and his half brother head out on a West Coast road trip to try and find her. But solving the mystery of her disappearance is only the beginning of their story. Through Sam’s 25-year quest for answers, the film explores intergenerational trauma and the turning points of family dysfunction and healing.”

This looks like an incredibly emotional and gripping story. I can’t wait to watch it, not only to solve the mystery, but to watch the bond between these brothers. Check out the trailer and poster below, and watch Sam Now in theatres beginning April 6 at the Laemmle Glendale in Los Angeles and on April 7 at the Village East Cinemas in New York (the filmmaking team will be in attendance for opening weekends in Los Angeles and New York). A nationwide expansion will follow in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Portland and other select markets. The film will launch its national TV broadcast as part of the PBS series Independent Lens on May 8.
