Gru Is a New Dad in Fun Trailer for Animated Sequel DESPICABLE ME 4
Illumination has released a new trailer for their upcoming animated sequel, Despicable Me 4. Steve Carell is back in the role of Gru, alongside his new wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig), and they’ve added a new kid to their household with the birth of a new baby boy to raise alongside their daughters. Returning cast members also include Miranda Cosgrove, Steve Coogan, Chris Renaud, Dana Gaier, and Pierre Coffin.
The film also introduces new characters voiced by Will Ferrell, Joey King, Sofia Vergara, Stephen Colbert, Chloe Fineman and Madison Polan. Ferrell voices Gru’s new nemesis Maxime Le Mal, while Vergara plays Maxime’s femme fatale girlfriend Valentina.
The screenplay for the new film is written by Mike White (School of Rock, The White Lotus), and franchise director Chris Renaud (The Secret Life of Pets 2) returns to helm the franchise after being away from it for a decade. He last helmed Despicable Me 2, and this time he is sharing the helming duties with Patrick Delage in his directorial debut.
This may seem like an eye-roller, but these movies are actually really funny, way better than they ever seem like they should be, so I am looking forward to watching it, seeing as how I know my kids will expect us to watch it on opening weekend. Despicable Me 4 is set to premiere in theaters on July 3, 2024.
