GUILD WARS 2 "Jormag Rising" is a Treat for Fans
The fourth chapter of The Icebrood Saga in Guild Wars 2, “Jormag Rising,” is available to play now and continues the story in my favorite MMORPG. I was given the opportunity recently to play a bit of the game with some of the design team and it’s a lot of fun. I will be keeping spoilers to an absolute minimum.
The first thing to know about “Jormag Rising” is that in order to work on its story, you have to do the meta event for “No Quarter.” In reality, these two serve as just one really long chapter. In order to help accommodate this though, the meta event for “No Quarter” has been adjusted to be quicker. Once completed, there will be a 15-minute grace period before “Jormag Rising” starts.
Another thing to note is that “Jormag Rising” is designed to require large groups of people to complete. The developers recommended a minimum of 30 players for the story. We had a group of less than 10 and it was a disaster.
Third, to help with the idea of Drizzlewood Coast being like a combination of PvE and WvW in a way, there are rewards that you can get from each of the different Charr legions by working the PvE reward track for that specific legion.
The new masterys and tools are a lot of fun too and very much needed. The medizooka was a favorite that blasts you into the air and then you shoot your allies to heal them from above. It’s a lot of fun and you can even set to use the action camera, or not, depending on your preference. This preference can be independent of your normal preferences.
This is all without me talking about the new weapons. There’s a new weapon from each of the different legions that reflects that specific legion. Then, there’s the Charged Stormcaller weapons that feature added effects and the Empowered Boneskinner weapons. The effect of the new infusion can be seen in the main picture above, too.
There’s a lot for players to enjoy in this update. Once again, it is a shame that there’s no voice acting, but hopefully, “Jormag Rising” and “No Quarter” can be updated soon to include those. I think players who enjoyed “No Quarter” are going to love “Jormag Rising” even more. I know I did in the little bit I got to play.
