GUILD WARS 2 Team Reveals Big Plans and Says the Fourth Expansion is Underway
The Guild Wars 2 team recently made lots of fans happy. Some fans have been worried that End of Dragons would be the last big release for the game and then it would die out.
The recent Studio Update from ArenaNet has put such worries to rest. The team explained that there will be more adventures in Cantha with a new map (probably Living World Season 5/6 depending on if Icebrood Saga counts), they’re still working on bringing the game to Steam with hopes that it will happen this year, they want to have DirectX11 exit beta, they will release Living World Season 1 as a proper playable experience once more, World vs. World is getting worked on, Professions will get more consistent updates, and more.
Oh, and the team also revealed that they’re already at work on the game’s fourth expansion. We have no other details other than it is very early in development and so we shouldn’t expect anything for a long time, but that’s still a big piece of news to help fans know the game isn’t going away any time soon. This is all very exciting news!
Living World Season 1 (aka “Scarlet’s War”) is a big piece of the lore, but if you missed out on the original launch, you’ve never been able to go back and play through it to get the full picture of what happened. I’m very excited to finally get to go back and play it. I also know many are excited for the WvW Alliance betas to start up this spring.
I really appreciate how much more communicative the team at ArenaNet has become. In an effort to increase that, the team announced a new “State of the Game” blog post that will be a regular post going out to keep fans updated. They don’t mention how often to expect them, but I can’t wait for them to come out.
