Guillermo del Toro has made a good amount of film projects over the years, and he certainly has a loyal fanbase that loves his stuff. Film such as Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, Crimson Peak, Pacific Rim, The Shape of Water, and more have all entertained audiences over the years.

But, as you know, there have been some projects that the filmmaker has developed that he was never able to get off the ground. Projects like Frankenstein, At The Mountains of Madness, and The Haunted Mansion.

Del Toro was recently asked by a fan on Twitter how many unmade projects he’s worked on and he revealed the the following:

"By my count I have written or co-written around 33 screenplay features. 2-3 made by others, 11 made by me (Pinocchio in progress) so about 20 screenplays not filmed."

What a shame. 20 films from Del Toro that have never been made. That’s a lot of time, work, and effort! He put thing into perspective explaining, "Each takes 6-10 months of work, so, roughly 16 years gone." But, he doesn’t see it all as a waste, as it gave him "experience and skill improvement."

As for some of the other unproduced films he’s worked on, there’s The Wind in the Willows, Tarzan, The Orphnage remake, Halo, Hellboy III, Van Helsing, The Hulk, Justice League Dark, Fantastic Voyage, and several more.

I really hope that one day he gets to make his Frankenstein film. Out of all of his unproduced projects Frankenstein and At The Mountains of Madness are the ones I’d still like to see get made most.
