Guillermo del Toro's SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK Gets a Release Date a Logo

The Guillermo del Toro-produced film adaptation of the classic horror children’s novels Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is set to be released in theaters on August 9th, 2019!

We also have a photo from the set of the film featuring Del Toro, with the star of the film Zoe Coletti, as well as director André Øvredal (Trollhunters). There’s also a logo for the title, which you can see above.

The film follows a character named Stella (Colletti) who is "a young girl still haunted by her mother’s disappearance on Halloween night — an incident that she suspects her father knows more about than he lets on. Years later, Stella and her friends are involved in a Halloween prank gone wrong. But are they really at fault, or was it the work of a vengeful spirit — a female ghost who uses her scary stories to come after the teens when they begin to investigate the disappearance of several children?"

The story for the film is also said to follow "a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town."

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will also star Austin Abrams (Brad’s Status, Tragedy Girls), Gabriel Rush (Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel), Michael Garza (Wayward Pines, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1), Austin Zajur (Kidding), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Gil Bellows (Patriot, Jett), Lorraine Toussaint (Into The Badlands, Selma, Orange Is The New Black) and Natalie Ganzhorn (Make it Pop, Wet Bum).
