Guillermo del Toro's THE STRAIN Renewed For Season 3

FX is about four weeks into the second season of Guillermo del Toro's dark vampire series The Strain. It didn't take them very long to renew it for Season 3! The first season of the series was very strong, but the ratings have dropped in its second season. It's obviously still doing well enough to keep it going, though.

I've enjoyed this series, and I'm happy to see that it will push through to at least one more season. FX executive Eric Schrier had this to say in a statement:

“Guillermo and Carlton [Cuse] have delivered two thrilling seasons of The Strain that are captivating and visually arresting, doing justice to the original novel trilogy and meeting fans’ high expectations in the process."

I'm a couple of episodes behind on the current second season, but here's a description of what is going on:

"New York City is rapidly falling to an evil epidemic, and no one is coming to its rescue. Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and his unlikely allies tried to take down the embodiment of this evil — the Master — and failed. Now Eph and Dr. Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) concentrate on creating a biological weapon to wipe out the creatures, while Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) searches for an ancient book he hopes will reveal the strigoi’s entire history…and possibly a way to kill them."

I'll be looking forward to seeing how this current season concludes, and where the story will take us in Season 3.
