GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- Closed Beta Impressions

The newest Guilty Gear game is coming along very well with Guilty Gear -Strive-. This weekend was a closed beta which included some offline and online times for players to brawl it out. Between a handful of beautifully animated characters, a handful of stages and some seriously gorgeous style, this beta was a real treat and sneak peek into how amazing the game will be later in the year.

The Guilty Gear -Strive- Closed Beta only had a few windows of time to play, but every moment I had in the arena was loads of fun. Each character felt different but easy to handle while showing glimpses of intense mastery. -Strive- felt well balanced in battle while still making each character have strengths and feel powerful while playing them. Along with the smooth combat and entertaining ways to fight people, the game looks better than a lot of anime I’ve seen. The character model designs, the dynamic camera angles, and the crisp animation style culminate in an unbelievably beautiful game.

There have been some technical difficulties for a number of users during this beta, not allowing them to get in and fight and other various things. But it isn’t a huge surprise with COVID-19 and how relatively small the beta seems to be. Those issues don’t take away from the actual game’s quality; when the matches are happening, they are loads of fun and bursting with style.

Guilty Gear -Strive- is slated to arrive later this year and we are very excited! Did you play the beta? If so, what did you think? Or what are you looking forward to most about with -Strive-? Let us know in the comments below!
